Raw Canvas Training Course applications open

If you have been following this blog for a while you will surely know about Raw Canvas: Tate Modern’s group of young people who organises events for young people. Perhaps you’ve even come along to one of our events. Well, how would you like to know more about us and Tate Modern in general? Our 10-week training course in the beginning of 2010 and will provide a behind-the-scenes overview of the working of Tate Modern, and at the end of it you’ll have a chance to become an active member of our team.

Ever thought about working in an art gallery? Want to get more involved in planning events for people your own age? Look behind the scenes at the gallery and learn to share your enthusiasm about art with others. The Raw Canvas Training Programme will give you an introduction to Tate’s collection. On the 10 week course you will:

Find out more about Tate

Hear about jobs at the gallery
􀂃
See what’s in the stores
􀂃
Learn to look at and talk about art
􀂃
Discover ways to get information about artists and their work
􀂃
Go behind the scenes and meet Curators, Conservators and Educators
􀂃
Learn to start a gallery discussion
􀂃
Join Raw Canvas and find out more about how you can get involved in the programme
The Training Course is on Monday evenings from 6.30 – 8.30 for 10 weeks. The course costs £20 which will include refreshments. There will be some work to do in between sessions and a small assignment at the end. If you’re between the ages of 15 and 25 and can commit to 2 hours a week for 10 weeks between January and March, and if you fancy getting involved in thinking up ideas for events for young people at Tate Modern, then download the application form or email us for more information.
